The Santander Funicular (Río de la Pila), inaugurated in 2008, is a free transport service connecting Río de la Pila Street with Prado de San Roque, overcoming a steep incline. It covers 78 meters with 4 stops, operates from 6:00 a.m.

to midnight, has a capacity for 20 people, and allows bicycles. It is the only funicular in Cantabria. Its construction involved an investment of €4 million from the City Council and €2.1 million from the EU.
