Pópulo neighborhood

El Pópulo is the oldest neighborhood in the historic center of Cádiz, Spain. Located in the northern part of the city, it houses the cathedral, the Roman theater, and the Admiral's House. It occupies the site of the old medieval walled city, enclosed by 13th-century arches.

Its name derives from a 16th-century painting of the Virgin Mary with the inscription "Ora pro populo" ("pray for the people").
