The Cathedral of Santa María of Valencia, known as La Seu, is the seat of the archbishopric. Consecrated in 1238, its predominant style is Valencian Gothic, with Romanesque, Renaissance, and Baroque influences. It houses the Holy Chalice from the 1st century and valuable Quattrocento paintings. It was elevated to a Metropolitan Cathedral in 1492.
